This post is intended to begin as a story (in a less formal manner) of my ride into the entrepreneurship world. I will also share a few things about getting organized and hopefully it will help you too.
My Story (and possibly yours too)
My personal journey started just over a year ago when working corporate became exhausting and quite the juggle. I’m sure you know what falls under the umbrella of juggle but just to name a few ~ raising a family, maintaining a home, activities, extended family responsibilities, keeping abreast of the office changes and policies and so much more. We all experience the same life drill. Now, I’m not saying it wasn’t a juggle I couldn’t handle. You can too. Then a realization came that why not use all the skills, work/life experiences and education and do this for myself – be my own boss essentially. Boom, there I was a self-proclaimed Virtual Assistant overnight. That is where the hard work began. So, how did I get started?
Here is where the fun begins:
Please watch video first. Just two minutes and to the point.
I found using clipboard organizing as a great way to master my to-do list. So, you want to break into the social media business? Well, here is where clipboards come in handy. As a Social Virtual Assistant, of course I am working with social media every day. Hence, organizing my social media tasks for me is paramount. Organizing with clipboards in any way that keeps you organized is worth the time and you can have fun with it.
Here is how I use them to keep me straight and on-target with my master to-do list:
Business Start-Up Clipboards
CLIPBOARD #1 Master To-Do List CLIPBOARD # 2 Reading and Research CLIPBOARD # 3 Brainstorming CLIPBOARD # 4 Business Plan CLIPBOARD # 5 Website Material CLIPBOARD # 6 Legal Licensing/Taxes/Insurance/ CLIPBOARD # 7 Create Image –Marketing, Business Cards, Stationary CLIPBOARD # 8 Networking Lists/Contacts
(By the way, I have a legal pad clipped to the front of each clipboard corresponding with the clipboard itself. At the top of the legal pad is the title or subject of what is to placed on the clipboard.)
Note: Attached to the clipboards are materials you have collected. Understanding some will be saved on files on your computer. Title those files the same as your clipboard files.
As a Social Virtual Assistant social platforms play an important role in my day. So, my clipboards also look something like this. I’ve attached great reference sheets, checklists, template sizes etc. and anything else I need to locate quickly.

Of course, getting organized it just the beginning of starting your own business. There are so many details and tasks along the way that just don’t get noted. You can do it though with a schedule and sticking to your schedule. So, you need to connect and you’re at home. Connecting on social media is a must. Yes, networking events are important as well but without an online presence you’ll be just another face in the crowd.
I have a gift for you. Yes, a gift.
I welcome comments at the bottom of this post. Comment counts and matter. Your comment matters. Thank you in advance!
Don’t spend your day flipping between screens trying to keep up with all you social platforms. Have a system, a schedule, a way to do it without driving yourself crazy or feeling overwhelmed. This is what I do and it works. It keeps me on track to continue on with my day after I’ve checked in with my connections, followers, tweeps, and the like.
For you is the daily schedule I use to be sure I cover all my social media bases. Use it as a guideline to develop your own or tweek mine as you would like.
It’s not perfected by any means – but it gets me going in the morning to a good start. And one last thing. This chart is only a guide I find as I’m sure you do I’m commenting, liking and engaging much more than what is shown on the chart. It is only intended as an example. Enjoy!
Best wishes to you in you entrepreneur vision. If I can be any help, please reach out to me.
*If you have any problems with the image please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org I will be glad to forward it to you as an attachment.
